Maureen L. Mulvihill, Ph.D.
President, Chief Executive Officer, Co-Founder
Maureen is the Life Sciences Pennsylvania 2020 CEO of the Year and has been recognized over 35 times nationally and internationally for her entrepreneurial leadership. In 2017, she was a US delegate to the Global Entrepreneurship Summit in India. She has been appointed to the Life Sciences PA BOD, AdvaMed BOD, and AdvaMed Accel BOD to give voice to small emerging medical device companies. She also sits on the Industrial Advisory Board for the Penn State Center for Biodevices and Regional Board for Kish Bank. She is an alumnus of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Business program. Maureen received her Ph.D. from Penn State University.
Roger B. Bagwell, Ph.D.
Director, Research & Development, Chief Science Officer, Co-Founder
Roger spearheads R&D with a unique talent for challenging engineers and fostering a collaborative work environment. Roger also serves as liaison to the manufacturing side of the business, maintaining the balance between driving product innovation and creating products that are both viable and attractive for acquisition. Roger has supported the firm’s R&D effort with an enviable string of successful SBIR awards. Roger earned his B.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Florida and his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Penn State University.
Christopher E. Lahr
Director, Business & Finance
Chris, one of Actuated’s first employees, oversees the company finances to ensure government compliance and is Point of Contact (POC) with external CPAs. He administers government contracts and is POC with research partners’ contract offices. He manages payroll and is POC with payroll company. He supervises Actuated’s HR efforts, corporate culture initiatives, new employee orientation, and is POC with the employee benefits broker and HR legal counsel. He leads the company’s IT infrastructure and is POC with a third-party IT & Cybersecurity company. Chris earned his B.S. in Information Technologies from Phoenix University.
Douglas R. Dillon
Director, Quality Assurance & Regulatory Affairs
Doug is responsible for managing Actuated’s ISO-certified quality management system (QMS). He ensures design and manufacturing compliance to ISO 13485, ISO 14971, 21 CFR 820, Medical Devices Directive 93/42/EEC, and the Medical Devices Single Audit Program (MDSAP). He is also responsible for submissions to regulatory bodies, including the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Health Canada, and the European Union (EU). Doug earned his B.S. in Chemistry from Juniata College and his M.S. in Material Science and Engineering from Drexel University.
Ian M. Charney
Ian is responsible for managing Actuated’s manufacturing activities and ensuring that production, performance, and quality standards are met. He ensures that the production of existing products, such as the TubeClear System is FDA cGMP compliant and works with engineers to transition new products through V&V and scale-up and into efficient production. Ian’s experience in research and development also allows him to act as a manufacturing advisor to engineers during the development process. Ian is also tasked with leading our contract development and manufacturing projects. Ian earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh.
Kyle W. Gheres, Ph.D.
Neural Device Leader, Senior Scientist
Kyle is responsible for managing Actuated’s Neural Devices R&D programs as well as commercial activities of the NeuralGlider Inserter, which uses ultrasonic micro-vibration to reduce forces and resultant dimpling during neural implant insertions. Currently, he manages preclinical research studies with partnering investigators at Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Pittsburgh, the University of North Carolina, Penn State University, and others. Actuated’s active neuroscience research programs also include the development of surgical tools for peripheral nerve electrode and deep brain stimulation electrode implantation, as well as therapeutic ultrasound technologies for neural applications. Kyle earned his B.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Penn State University as well as his Ph.D. in Molecular Cellular and Integrative Biosciences.
Kevin A. Snook, Ph.D.
Acoustic Design Leader, R&D Engineer
Kevin is responsible for development and optimization of new device concepts as well as continued advancement and evolution of Actuated’s current technologies. He focuses on performance metrics and evaluation throughout the design process. In addition, he mentors company engineers in finite element analysis and predictive device design. Kevin has expertise in electroactive/piezoelectric materials, acoustics and photoacoustics, electronics, and active device design principles. Kevin earned his B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Bioengineering from Penn State University.
Olga M. Ocόn-Grove, Ph.D.
Reimbursement Leader, Senior Scientist
Olga is responsible for determining how Actuated’s products will be received by payers and what reimbursement strategy we shall pursue via interactions with Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Additionally, as clinical Site Monitor, she assists Actuated Medical’s Director Quality Assurance & Regulatory Affairs to execute and oversee ongoing clinical studies, focusing on IRB application preparation and serving as the coordinator between Actuated Medical and clinicians. Olga earned her B.S. in Animal Science from the University of Florida and both her M.S. and Ph.D. in Physiology from the Pennsylvania State University.
Kiara R. Yough
Clinical Education Engineer, R&D Engineer
Kiara is responsible for curating and disseminating external materials and strategically managing the media presence for NeuralGlider, highlighting the benefits of our solutions for preclinical researchers from an engineering perspective. Additionally, she fulfills a role as an engineer within the neural devices team, driving the advancement of innovative solutions designed for Neuroscience experts. Kiara earned her B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Duquesne University.
